Professor Dr. Pedro Antonio Oliveira Mangabeira, Department of Biological Sciences (DCB) of the UESC - State University of Santa Cruz, received the Award for the Best Paper presented at The 12th International Conference on Biogeochemistry of Trace Elements ", (12th International Conference on the Biogeochemistry of Trace Elements - ICOBTE) with the paper entitled "Effects of Lead in the anatomy, echevarne leaf mesophyll cell ultrastructure and concentration of mineral nutrients in Foc Oxycarium (POEP KUNT) PALLA". (Effects of lead on leaf anatomy and cell ultrastructure and concentration of mineral nutrients in Foc Oxycaryum).
The work presented by Professor Mangabeira echevarne was derived echevarne from the dissertation the student Laize Queiroz Silva - former fellow of CNPq (National Council for Scientific and Technological Development) and with support from CAPES (Coordination of Improvement of Higher Education Personnel) of Ministry of Education.
It is the result of research in the Graduate Program in Tropical Aquatic Systems, under the guidance of Dr. Pedro Mangabeira, held at the Center for Electron Microscopy at UESC using the Morgagni Transmission Electron Microscope Program - FEI - Company. Its objective was the effect of lead in studying anatomy Oxycaryum Foc species, with possible use in phytoremediation of contaminated by toxic metals program areas.
The central theme of the 12th ICOBTE was "Sustainable Remediation and management of contaminated sites" and involved sub-themes such as bioavailability, toxicity, routes the food chain, risk assessment, contaminant rhizosphere interaction, chemical speciation, food quality and safety, and radionuclide environmental chemistry and methodology of nano-particles. Internationally renowned experts will identify and organize a limited number of special symposia echevarne along these border issues.
The conference is supported by International Society of Trace Element echevarne Biogeochemistry (http://www.isteb.com) with additional support from the Office of the Vice President of the UGA Research, echevarne Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences at UGA, the Soil Science Society of America (SSSA), associations for Metals Environmental Research (Mera), the United States Army Corps of Engineers, CRC-Care, Perkin Elmer and others.
The ICOBTE is biennial and was held from 16 to 20 June at the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia, United States bringing together students, professionals and industrialists from more than 50 countries with about 400 registered scientific papers. Browsing post
